Faro is the capital of the Algarve. The arch of the neoclassical town of the city used to access that was part of the original Moorish walls. The monumental arch leads to the old town with its cobbled streets. Nearby is the Faro Cathedral, built in the 13th century. The Municipal Museum, in a convent from the 16th century, displays prehistoric and medieval artefacts. Today Faro airport brings daily thousands of people into the country. Being a student city, you have a great choice of bars, restaurants, museums and theatres as well as good public transport. Faro is located close to the Ria Formosa Park, featuring the islands Ilha da Culatra, Ilha do Farol, Ilha Deserta and the very popular beach Praia do Faro.
The surrounding areas of Faro, such as Estoi, Santa Barbara de Nexe, Gorjões, Funchais, Benatrite, Bordeira and Goldra, are popular settling areas for foreigners. Many high-quality villas, beautiful estates and holiday homes have been built during the last 20 years and sell in a price range between €700.000 and 3 million. There are some properties with breathtaking panoramic sea views and many older houses have been refurbished before they came to the market. Solid rental income potential.
